Macon-Hall Elementary PTA

Note: 2008 information will be updated closer to the start of the event.

Starting February 25, students will collect canned goods for the Memphis Food Bank. This is a great way to help children learn about the importance of helping others!

Shelby County Schools in conjunction with Kroger Food Stores and The Food Bank will sponsor the KIDS KAN Food Drive during the week of February 25 through February 29. Canned goods collected by students and staff will be given to The Food Bank. Serving 309 charitable feeding programs in 31 Mid-South counties, The Food Bank fights hunger by efficiently collecting and distributing wholesome food, while educating the community about the problem of hunger and advocating on behalf of hungry people.

What a wonderful opportunity to teach young people their responsibility to feed the hungry and contribute to the community welfare.

A pizza party and various other prizes will be awarded to to the classrooms (K-5) that collect the most cans during the week.

The most needed food items are:

Peanut Butter
Canned Meats and Tuna
Canned Fruits and Vegetables
Baby Food Jars (packed separately)
Canned 100% Fruit Juices.

CANS WITHOUT LABELS and SODA CANNOT BE ACCEPTED BY THE FOOD BANK.
