Macon-Hall Elementary PTA

Red Ribbon Week - October 22-28, 2009

Red Ribbon Week

The goal of Red Ribbon Week is to present a unified and visible commitment toward the creation of a Drug Free America. The red ribbon symbolizes a commitment to a healthy, drug free lifestyle. Macon-Hall will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week with special activities each day.

Parents, please write a card or letter to your child to tell him/her how much he/she is loved and how special he/she is. Encourage your child to always take a stand against things that are wrong. Choose a time during the week to give your child this letter. This note will be a meaningful reminder of your love and your belief in your child.

Thursday: Red Ribbon Kickoff. 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will assemble in the gym at 11:30 to enjoy a performance by the Houston High School's Pride Team, "Harry Potter and the Path of Peril".
Friday: Macon-Hall T-shirt Day. All students are encouraged to wear their Macon-Hall or class t-shirts.
Monday: I TUNE OUT DRUGS. During regularly scheduled guidance, students will design a campaign poster with a drug-free message. These will be collected by the School Counselors to be displayed around the building.
Tuesday: Kindergarten and First Grade students will have a special presentation in the library by Sgt. Brian Goode: Hangin' with the Home Beez
Wednesday: PLEDGE DAY. Each class will come by the banner located between the gym and the cafeteria to sign the pledge that says, "I TUNE OUT DRUGS!"
